Smoking, and tobacco usageback to healthread return to health links Jan 2018 |
Although identified as the most prevalent cause of PREVENTABLE death
(smoking is related to 400,000 deaths a year), there are more young people
today starting to use and/or use snuff than in the 1960's before the risks
were well known. Some of this can be attributed to the fat-a-phobia in
our society wherein teens are given the idea that any unhealthy means of
losing or keeping off weight is acceptable and desirable. Although
many medical providers ask patients if they smoke, they do not actively tell
them to give up the habit (albeit if the patient is least overweight, all
illness is often attributed to the extra despite the lack of scientific
evidence that overweight alone is the cause of ANY problems). As seen
below, all types of tobacco including chewing tobacco, have their serious
risks.
