Faith Based Diets |
|
It's a given that in a society in which it is
not fashionable to attend church or be obviously religious and a society
in which being fat is generally considered a moral failing, that a
spiritually depleted public would seek a diet which combines both
spirituality and a quest for slimness and health. Thus we have the faith based diets. Weigh Down (Gwen Schamblin) and The Light Weigh (Suzanne Fowler) offer methods for portion control (with allowing any food in a very small quantity) along with Bible studies and spiritual support. People are encouraged to attend socially acceptable meetings whereas attending Sunday services at the church where the meetings are held, may not be socially acceptable. Jordan Rubin's "The Maker's Diet" is pseudoscientific and mildly spiritual for those who do not wish to get involved in more traditional Christianity. And finally Rev Malkmus' Hallelujah diet is similar to Jordan Rubin's offering but has the advantage of long termers, some of whom are very dissatified with their health after following this diet for several years. Following links review all four.
