"Geissler et al. found that previously obese women who had maintained
their target weights for an average of 2.5 years had a metabolic rate about
15% less and ate significantly less (1298 vs 1945 calories) than lean
controls. Liebel and Hirsch have reported that the reduced metabolic
requirements endure in obese patients who have maintained a reduced body
weight for 4-6 years. Thus, successful weight loss and maintenance is not
accomplished by "normalizing eating patterns" as has been implied in many
treatment programs but rather by sustained caloric restriction.
All diets fall into a few categories but the bottom line
is some kind of limiting food intake.

- The case against dieting: The one thing no one tells you,
is, to keep off the weight you lost, you need to do the same things
you did to lose the weight. Slightly calorie restrict i.e. count
your calories daily which is easy to do on places like "My
Fitness Pal", exercise regularly (more for health than for
weight loss) and make healthy food choices (which if low fat and
nutritious - as in the new
