Drinking coffee with caffeine raises blood sugar levels |
It's ok to drink coffee, a study found, if you drink de-caffeinated
coffee. That's because a clinical study found that the consumption
of caffeine can raise blood sugar levels as much as 8 percent. The study which was done at Duke university, monitored 10 type 2 diabetics. The results were confusing since coffee had been found to be useful in other studies. Scientists concluded that something IN the coffee was helpful but not the caffeine. People with diabetes should also consider avoiding medications like Excedrin which have a lot of caffeine in them if they can. ref: http://diabetes.webmd.com/news/20080128/caffeine-risks-may-rattle-diabetics |
