Cancer information

There are many treatments medicine offers us for the treatment of cancer, including chemotherapy, radiation and of course surgery.  They all have their drawbacks.  They all can cause damage to other parts of the body.  Chemotherapy basically fills our bodies with toxic chemicals which kill all new developing cells. But since we are constantly replacing cells in all our organs, these are also killed by the chemotherapy.  Chemo also kills the immune system cells which should be FIGHTING the cancer!  And the reason they give TWO chemicals (I found out) is that when the chemo breaks up the tumor, it circulates it in the bloodstream sending cancer cells all over the body.  The second chemical is supposed to kill the cancer cells in the bloodstream. Unfortunately, chemo sometimes causes the cancer to spread to other parts of the body.

Consider your options carefully.  People in their 80's generally live longer without chemotherapy.  Alternate medicine treatments have generally not been proven to be effective.

Chemo is often given to protect from another occurrence of cancer but I've seen several people die from the "protective chemo".  Ask your medical provider how much the dose of chemo will protect from a reoccurrence of cancer.
